Constraint is Sweet

In a marathon, as long as you reach the finish line, you are a winner. In real life, that finish line is the day you die.

Life … is all about constraints and restrictions. Since the very second we were born into this world, we realized our constraints. Physical constraints, emotional constraints, sociological constraints. They all work together like gravity making sure our feet stay on the ground.

When we were younglings, we spent time fighting against them. Our hopes and dreams were strong, and we wanted them to be strong enough to defy gravity. They weren’t.

What I have realized recently was that constraints are actually powerful. Constraint is focus. It is the focused beam through your mind’s magnifying glass. It makes you accomplish things in fractions of what you might have without it. It makes you challenge yourself like a sprinter instead of a marathoner. Life shouldn’t be treated as a marathon. In a marathon, as long as you reach the finish line, you are a winner. In real life, that finish line is the day you die. Life is constant relays of sprint after one another. Each sprint ends in the next hour or at the end of the day.

As I’m writing this, I’m challenging my mind to stream my ideas while knowing my wife and baby is coming back from their gym session any minute. This sprint ends in a minute, but I sure hope I’ve got your attention.
