It isn't unfortunate. It is just a different view from different circumstances. For example, do you have a family? Are you an American or immigrant? The fact remains is the area is one of the most expensive, least pleasant to live in with mediocre quality of life, higher tax, and unatenable for average persons to start a business despite being known as such a place.

All in all I'm not saying it is the worst place in the world, but indeed people don't have to travel there thinking it is still a mecca for tech startups, and end up getting a day job with a six-figure salary that traps them from starting anything.
